This study proposes to collect long term production data from wells in many different shale basins and evaluate well performance using production data analysis (PDA) with both rate and pressure data where possible, and rate transient analysis (RTA) when only rate data is available. Also, we propose to request injected fracture fluid volumes in order to quantify load recoveries and horizontal well lengths and spacings to estimate expected stimulated shale volume (SSV) values. We will compare observed load recovery to well performance parameters such as apparent production based SSV, shale permeability, hydraulic fracture half-length and conductivity in wells with available pressure monitoring, and EUR in wells reporting only rate data, and recovery to-date too. Finally, we will assess whether evaluated wells appear to be draining the expected SRV effectively.
